Ship in Coming
Oil on stretched canvas
36" × 48"
Ship in Coming opens a landscape where the familiar tilts gently toward the surreal. A quiet field stretches toward distant water, its deep greens shifting like a soft tide. Above it, clouds rise into monumental shapes — sculpted, airy, and full of cinematic presence. Resting within these cloud-forms is a luminous golden banana hull, curved like a vessel suspended between dream and reality. Its playful strangeness introduces a sense of humor, mystery, and open interpretation.
What emerges is a meditation on scale and expectation. The banana floats with a lightness that feels both whimsical and monumental, while a distant island steadies the composition with calm solidity. The open sky expands into deep blue, creating a dialogue between serenity and the unexpected. This tension nudges the viewer to look again — to see the world from a more imaginative vantage point.
In this heightened, quiet world, Tic explores presence, anticipation, and the subtle stories held in landscape. The horizon becomes a stage for arrival; the field becomes a pathway; and the golden vessel becomes a symbol of imagination drifting gently into the everyday.
Surreal, poetic, and quietly humorous, Ship in Coming is less a scene than a moment of awareness — a pause just before something magical appears.
A reminder that sometimes what we are waiting for arrives in forms we never thought to expect.
